Part 1:
I believe this is the most successful image I took during this challenge. During my sorority's retreat in Rehoboth Beach this past weekend, I was walking down the empty board walk and felt a sense of serenity. I feel this image captures that serenity and highlights the peacefulness of an empty beach where you can almost hear the sound of waves crashing and seagulls chirping. I think the exposure and highlights help to emphasize the warm tones of the sand, bench, and board walk and the cooler tone of the light blue sky and ocean.
The most challenging part of this challenge was finding photographs of other photographers that fit into the category of theoretical. I found myself going down a long rabbit hole of various google searches to find an image that would fit this category, and ended up having to resort to searching up the photographer of the example picture in the lecture to find more of her work.
In the future, I hope to be able to think more creatively and see inspiration in unique ways.I hope to be able to better categorize where my images fall or figure out what type of image I want to capture to better take a photo that meets the purpose I aimed for.
Part 2:
Comment on another student's blog: Hi Alexandra. The image you found to be your most successful is very pleasing to view. I agree that the bright colors of the sunset are captivating and really draw the viewer in. I think there is a nice contrast between the bright sunset colors and the duller, darker colors of the street, trees and houses. In the future, I would like to see how the image would look if it were to be cropped in a different way, with less of the road showing to see what emotions and purpose that would give to the image in comparison to how it is now. However, I do like how the road provides a vanishing point to draw the viewer through the entirety of the image, especially to the duller parts of the image that the viewer's eyes don't initially go to.

Hi Riley my name is Serena Bogomolnik. This is a great photo and I hope it is representative of a positive retreat. I really liked how you talked about everything the photo represents and how you felt when you were there. I think it adds a lot of meaning to the photo. I agree that the most difficult part was finding photos from other people. I think its great that in the future you want to be more intentional about categorizing your photos as you're taking planning and taking them.
Hi Riley, my name is David Heap and I really like your photograph. The beauty of this photograph is evident to all who look at it. For me, this photograph has special meaning because it reminds me of home. I can feel the wind on my face and hear the birds chirping and the sound of the rolling waves. You did a great drop capturing the perfect light for this picture, it is bright and cheerful. The peacefulness of this photo is clear as well. As a resident of a resort town, I cherish the late fall, winter, and early spring months when it is just the birds, the beach, and the boardwalk. If I had to give a suggestion,…
