Part 1:
I believe this is my most successful picture I took during this challenge for multiple reasons. I find comfort in the outdoors and looking back on this image, it elicits the peace I felt when I was out skiing. The singular vanishing point helps to draw the viewer through the entirety of the image, drawing attention to the smaller details of the people on the chairlift in the background. The combination of the monochromatic colors and the various textures gives complexity to a simple image. While learning about different compositions, I thought that it would be challenging to find vanishing points in the real world that were more complex than a road or pathway. Being able to problem solve to use the wires from the chair lift in combination with the ski slope going up the mountain, led to a captivating image.
This photo challenge was difficult as there were many different kinds of pictures needed to be taken. Because it is winter and the weather has been gloomy recently, I found it hard to find color in nature and found myself having to group items together to create the analogous and complementary color pictures. I typically enjoy photographing nature and scenery pictures, so finding other subjects to photograph to accomplish the other categories of image types was challenging.
In order to take stronger pictures in the future, I need to think a little more creatively and outside of my comfort zone. I found myself getting inspiration from the common and typical subjects you see, but in the future I hope to look for more unique and untraditional subjects to photograph. Additionally, in order to create stronger images, I hope to take more images of the same subject matter in different lighting and compositions, rather than taking two or three in similar manners. This will help me to create more unique images that may not have been the first concept that came to my mind.

Comment on classmate's Blog:
I really enjoyed your image you thought to be your best image of the challenge. I find it captivating to view and love how you were able to take such a simple subject of a light fixture and turn it into such an amazing photo. The low perspective of the photo helps to add the depth of the photo and I agree with you thinking that was a strong point of the photo. Because the light fixture is glass, I would love to see what it would look like with different lighting to see if the reflection of light against the glass balls would add almost a sparkle or some color to the image. I would also be interested to see a photo of the same composition with the light fixture itself being turned on to see if that would elicit a different emotion and feeling.

Hi Riley!
I like the image you chose for your blog. I especially like the attention to detail in the photo, with the people on the chair in front and the people skiing below you, to the ski marks on the mountain. I like the Monochromatic coloring of this image. I'm a big skier, so looking at these pictures made me feel like I was on the chairlift also. I thought you were very creative with this assignment!

I think this is a great photograph! The image is captivating because of the depth and perspective created by the ski lift cables. The vanishing point technique was done very well here, as my eye was directed off into the distance. Overall, the composition was very balanced and pleasing to the eye. As you mentioned, the monochromatic color scheme makes the image more intriguing and emphasizes the winter scene. The contrast and the backlit sun added to the emotion without overexposing the highlights. Though I do enjoy this photo, in the future there could be slight adjustments to the brightness or shadows to further contrast the snow. It could also be interesting to change the perspective slightly, adjusting…
